The certified genius behind the Ghostbusters. He is responsible for the designs of the proton packs, traps, and ecto-containment unit. Egon was the only son of a small family from Ohio. His father stressed the importance of education in the sciences to his son. Going to college was a life changing experiment for the young man who thought science was all there was to life. ::Egon: Really!:: At Columbia college in New York City, he met a freshman during his sophomore year named Peter Venkman. Peter annoyed him and fascinated him at the same time. ::Ray: And still does!:: It took a while before both could trust one another, but once they did a strong bond was formed between the two. Later, when in graduate school, Egon ran a physics lab. At his lab a young undergraduate student named Ray Stanz, became an assistant at the lab, and became friends with Egon. Through Egon, Ray met Peter and another bond was formed. This time it included the three men. With the help and support of one another, they each became Doctors of their chosen professions. Egon, physics. Peter, psychology. Ray, the occult. Also the three became Doctors of paranormal. With the quick wit of Peter Venkman. The deep intelligence of Egon Spengler and the nimble hands of Ray Stanz. The three formed the Ghostbusters. When the work became too much for the three to handle, they hired another hand, Winston Zeddemore. At first Winston was only supposed to be a handyman, but later on he proved himself worthy enough to achieve Ghostbuster status. ::Winston: Darn straight!:: And yet, another bond was formed and completed. The four men became closer than family and tighter than blood ties. If they couldn't count on themselves, they had each other. Egon is the cold reality amongst the four. His knowledge of anything scientific keeps him standing tall in reality. Whenever any of their brains take a vacation, it is Egon who reminds them of the situation and what they need to do to escape it. ::Ray: Which he has to do alot, because Peter's brain is on a permanent vacation!:: What Egon has in Science, he lacks in the emotions department. He usually has a hard time admitting he's wrong and when he's sorry. ::Tory: Does he ever! ARGH! Now you got me doing it!:: It took Ray to show him that he did have emotions and it was OK to show them once in a while. It was usually Peter who pushed him to the point of releasing his emotions. Mostly, when it came to Peter it was usually anger =^) After living with people like Ray and Peter, Egon has been prone to moments of silliness.
